I went there only once, it was during Southern Decadence a few years ago when there was a tropical bar in the area. Things were wetter and grosser and more humid in town owing to the storm and the crowds; however this trip to Rawhide is the only time I had to literally rush out of a bar because I started dry-heaving from the stench.
I went to Rawhide once. Things happened there that I never saw in a bar in NYC. It was basically a bathhouse that was allowed to pretend to be a bar. Closed now, but I had lots of fun when it was open before gentrification. The Spotlight in Hollywood. The oldest gay bar in L. They were opened from 6 AM to 2 AM every day.
