Cece: I went to a show in Dallas with one of my boyfriends and he knew some of the drag queens there. I was thinking about doing drag just from watching RuPaul and I thought it was really awesome so I wanted to do it myself. So he took me to the show and introduced me to some of his friends, and I got to watch them and was overwhelmed with how fantastic the show was.

I wanted to do drag so badly after that. Drag Family Trees: Would you say that was when you started to seriously consider doing drag? Cece: Definitely. Before it was just kind of a thought, but when I saw them performing I knew I wanted to do it. I am really into performing. I was just looking for that creative outlet to perform and once I saw the drag show I knew that was how I was going to express that need to perform.

Cece: Oh lord. I was super nervous and it took way too long for me to get ready. It usually takes me maybe two hours to get ready but back then it took me about five hours to get ready for that show. It was very plain and I had on the plainest little outfit.

I had not practiced dancing in my heels before I went so when the first show came around I got there and it was my turn to go on. I performed Walk This Way by P! NK, which is about the walk of shame, and I was stumbling all over the place, wobbling around in my heels and falling and trying my best to keep lip-syncing and play it off.

Luckily the site is about being drunk so I acted like it was all on purpose, but personally I thought it was the biggest disaster ever. Before TDR I had a couple of friends that also did drag, so I picked up stuff from them that they had learned from performing at bars, and I watched a lot gay YouTube videos, but I really started to progress when I did TDR because it forced me to learn stuff that I never did before.

I darkened them and called it good. But once TDR rolled around they read me for not covering my eyebrows and I was forced to learn. Cece: My drag family is kind of everywhere. Vanity Affair was my first sister that I had, but of course Allure and Gemini and Wednesday and Garde are all my sisters.

Cece: To me a drag family is a close group of drag queens that all help each other out and support each other and just kind of kiki. Cece: With Cece I wanted to have a name with a double sound. So bar was a tie between Cece, Dede, Gigi, Mimi, names like that. I wanted to throw my theatre self into my name.

I acrobatics kind of wing it. There is a little bit of preparation and mapping out, but really I just fill the song in with movement. So the hardest tumblrcom is actually being up on stage and filling that empty space, but it usually turns out well for me!
